I suppose blogging about one particular bag in the Sex and the City 2 movie won’t really brand me as a movie spoiler now that it has been playing in theaters for a good 5 days. Ok, ok… I will post a disclaimer now *hehehe*. If you peeps have NOT yet watched Sex and the City 2, then do NOT read the rest of this post. Stop right here.
Now, if you peeps have no intentions of watching the movie *oh but you must watch it!!!* (but love bags), or have already watched the movie, read on 🙂 *welcome! hehehe*
Towards the end of the movie, you will see Samantha carrying an orange ostrich bag. A “birkin”, she called it. Do you peeps remember?
Charlotte’s carrying a Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Makeup Case. Here was what Samantha carried. Is that an orange ostrich Hermes birkin? It couldn’t be a Haut a Courroies though as it has unusually long handles (HACs have shorter handles– as far as most of us know :D)… I’ve seen a long- handle regular sized birkin but I do know they rarely *if ever* produce them nowadays.
The orange “birkin” does not look like one that was made by Hermes. At least to me it didn’t seem like it. But hey, I’m no expert on the bags in this movie and I, like the others, am only waiting to hear if Hermes would say it’s their bag or not 😀
Post- market fight scene, the bag gets a taste of the souk floor. Eeks!!
The base of the strap just doesn’t look like that of an Hermes birkin. But again, I digress for lack of knowledge about this particular “birkin” style. I hope someone from Hermes *or ok, Patricia Field* issues a statement– if this IS an Hermes bag 🙂

P.S. And then there’s this Ostrich birkin that Samantha was seen carrying as she left the “private” store which sold illegal and counterfeit designer bags. Like what Jacqui (she left a comment on this post :D) mentioned, there was a real Hermes ostrich birkin used. I take it this is it. It looked real from this angle 🙂 Look at the actual length of the handle of the birkin this time, as opposed to the bag Samantha carried while she was outside the souk. This photo shows the birkin with a shorter handle, *length of a real Hermes birkin handle* yes? Can you tell the difference? 🙂
But oh what a fantastic movie it was, yes? Lots of Louis Vuitton luggage, an Hermes carry- on (behind Carrie– look closely!),
A pink Dior bag carried by Charlotte as the 4 gals were buying a gift for Stanford’s wedding, an
Adriana Castro clutch carried by Carrie, with a Lanvin bag in the background
A Louis Vuitton pochette, a Chanel white classic flap carried by one of the women who unveiled themselves in a small room within the souk, a Chloe paddington in Carrie’s new closet, and even a Bea Valdes bag which Carrie carried when she wore that newsprint John Galliano dress 🙂
Oh and I have to mention my new friend and jeweller
