Hermes Vibrato Leathers

It’s no longer often that you see a Hermes vibrato birkin for sale at Hermes. In fact, from what I was told, they have since stopped production of the vibrato leather birkins (and kellys) because of the more laborious and time consuming process– most vibrato birkins today are especially ordered and take so long to be completed– if these orders can be fulfilled at all 😦
Some people have mistaken vibrato for fabric. Vibrato is not a fabric of some sort. It is in fact, stacked leather– which is why the process to make it is more laborious. Strips of leather are stacked together painstakingly to create that look– think of it as a cross- section of the stacked leathers. There you have it 🙂
Vibrato birkins are normally paired with box leather such as this one:

And then you have the vibrato birkin body paired with a togo leather flap and handles. It’s not often you see this pairing too– it is in fact, very rare.

I feel that vibrato leather birkins have been so under- appreciated in the past, but if you are looking for that extra special something that perhaps other Hermes bag- loving women don’t always have, go for a vibrato leather bag. It’s not as difficult to get exotic leather birkins as it is a vibrato birkin these days (yep, vibrato’s harder to get!), plus the price difference of course is staggering– the exotic leather one being way more expensive!
Wrote a piece on Hermes leathers for my newspaper column some months ago– in case you want to read up on the types of leather, do check out my story HERE 🙂
